Do you accept insurance? Most of our therapists are out of network providers, meaning they do not accept insurance. However we are able to submit an out of network claim on your behalf through our billing department. There are a few open sessions slots that are IN Network with some insurance plans. Please ask about this during your intake call.
-
What payment methods do you accept? We accept cash and all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover). Please note that payment is due at the time of your session!
-
What if I can't afford therapy? We have added about 20 sliding scale therapy sessions and they are offered 20-80% off the cost of the regular session fees. This is based on need/income and availability. If you want therapy or think you will benefit from it please dont let finances hold you back. Contact us and let us know you are inquiring about the sliding scale therapy. Offered in Spanish and english we will work with you to make sure you can get services!
-
What is your cancellation policy? The practice policy is 24 hour notice or the full session fee is your responsibilty. We understand emergencies happen but we value our clinicians time just as we know you do! If something comes up please feel free to reach out and ask if possible to reschedule or do a make up session, but try to give as much notice as you can. We appreciate it.
-
How long is a therapy session?Therapy sessions are 45 minutes in length.
-
What can I expect from the first session? Our first meeting is sometimes called an intake session. It is an information gathering session, where your therapist will gather your history and pressing issues and we will decide together if therapy is a good fit for you at that time. It’s also a place for you to ask any questions you may have. Please be aware that the first session is not complimentary and the full session price will be charged.
-
Is what I share confidential?Yes, absolutely. What you share in sessions is completely confidential with only three caveats: 1) immediate threat of harm to self or others, 2) suspicion or confirmation of child or elder abuse, 3) in the case of a court ordered subpoena. If you have questions or concerns about any of these cases, you can discuss them in more detail in your first session or before we begin.
-
How long will therapy last? When will I know when I am done? The length of therapy looks different for everyone depending on what you are working on and how comfortable you feel managing it. You can trust that your therapist will check in with you throughout the process to get a feel for where you are in the process.
-
Will you judge me? What if I don’t know what to say?Your therapist will never judge you, no matter what! This space is for you. Therapy is about getting in touch with thoughts and beliefs that may be very painful to uncover. We only ever have admiration and respect for you being willing and ready to do this work for yourself. If you’re not sure what to say, your therapist can offer some gentle guidance to help identify your focus and/or goals for therapy. You are always in charge though, and your therapist will listen and help you work through whatever is on your mind that day.
-
How does online video counseling work? Is it secure?Yes, we do offer online video counseling and yes, it is as confidential as it can possibly be. Your therapist conducts video counseling on a secure laptop in a private space using a HIPAA compliant tele-medicine platform. We also insist that clients take the call in a secure room so you can feel comfortable being completely open and honest during your session. We follow every protocol we can to ensure data and privacy security measures have been upheld in order to safeguard your private information.
